Let’s Kill The Summer
Right now, the title of Dan Schneider’s debut LP seems cruelly ironic, but we’ll forgive him, since he recorded these 15 songs at home in Chicago and tweaked them in the studio during 2004-05. The result is a luminous, reverb-and drone-heavy, psych folk delight that uses unusual acoustic guitar tunings and sounds like it might have been recorded in 1968. Fans of Fred Neil, John Martyn and Jandek take note. (REVIEWED BY SHARON O’CONNELL FOR TIME OUT MAGAZINE August 2-9 2006 ISSUE No.1876)
