Of late Whitechapel has cried, “Who will lead us now?” As Pete is lost forever to the Primrose Hill set and The Others’ album sold about seven copies, is this now the time for The Paddingtons, the most East End band ever to come from Hull, to step forward? It also looks like it’s their chance for them to prove they are more than just Oasis-slating, Dior clotheshorses and of actual worth, in particular with the phenomenal rise of bands like Arctic Monkeys.

The Paddingtons: Hell, Hull And Happiness
14/12/05Few of their detractors dare admit it but one of the biggest success stories this year has been the rise and rise of The Paddingtons. Emerging on the back of the DIY gutterpunk scene inspired by The Libertines and feted by the likes of The Others, the Hull five piece have usurped Dominic Masters et al, quietly going about their business whilst selling out venues and a shedload of records up and down the land.

Originally from Hull, they moved to London and wowed the music scene movers and shakers with their incendiary live shows. Signed to Alan McGee’s Poptones label, releases such as ‘50 to a £’ and ‘Panic Attack’ served to heighten the anticipation ahead of release of their debut album.
