Everything that you wanted to know about Poptones but were afraid to ask… don’t worry! Its all handily summarised below!
Hello—its yr friendly neighbourhood Poptones mail out!
I know that you are all probably very sad about the Paul McCartney, Heather Mills split but if you are like Poptones you realise the need to carry on at all costs. And we’ve got two fantastic records coming out in the summer by The Singleman Affair and Viking Moses that will ease the pain.
The Singleman Affair
He called in --- he’s getting pretty hot. Already planning the next record with the Lichens and Josephine Foster but at the moment his debut out on the 17th of July is getting heavy play over here. He is hooked up to play Pitchfork’s Festival in July and has a string of shows opening up for the Six Organs of Admittance. Should be awesome. Look for a tour in the fall. Its perfect pop for now people! Bring on the summer…
Viking Moses
He’s hitchhiking up and down the West Coast at the moment playing shows and turning people on to his country soul. He’s hooked up to headline Devendra Banhart’s festival in Los Angeles in the later part of July in promotion of his forthcoming Poptones Release ‘Crosses’ ou on the 31st of July. More details can be found on Devendra’s festival can be found here.

In other Poptones news, Cherrystones just finished off a two night DJ set for Dirty Pretty Things in preparation for his opening gig the teenage head blow-out of Dead Meadow on Saturday at Bush Hall with Pete Fowler (Magic Numbers/Super Furry Animals) and Voice of the Seven Woods. Last night Cherrystones dropped a mad set of heavy dub-psych-french-ye-ye-horror-prog on the citizens of Dirty Pretty Things planet. It was hot. Best part of the night was during a malfunction of the decks it went silent and a girl came up and said ‘What happened to the music?’ ‘I’m dropping my John Cage set very avant-garde’ ‘Oh I love John Cage!’—how amazing is that?
We are in the midst of maybe getting Cherrystones forthcoming EPs out on NYC hipster label ‘Whatever We Want’ records—home of Quiet Village. So errr… look out!
Sailboats are White are spreading their very own brand of teen-droog-violence in the USA and Canada with some more tour dates in the offing for the UK in the fall.
So look out for more releases by Tobias Froberg, Souls She Said and some fucked up shit from our hearts to yours.
