Poptones.co.uk's Soundtrack Download of the Week!

Danger Diabolik is a Mario Bava film which is hell-bent on being thee
super-swinging-action-spy of the sixties to outdo all the James Bond
films.  Diabolik, a super fashionable and fey action hero thwarts
scheme, steals billions, murders innocent people to return home at the
end of a hard day to sleep on his bed of money and entertain his
partner in crime, Marisa Mell.  But unlike the judgment calls in other
action spy movies of the time, Diabolik is completely amoral and out to
score as much money as he can—whether it be stealling from the
innocents or from the mafia.  Diabolik is one amazing film on a palette
of psychedelic drugs. Based on a popular comic book in Italy, Danger
Diabolik is what Roger Erbert deemed ‘the movie that Barberalla should
have been’.

And the score is brilliant.  With the soundtrack score lost in a fire,
copies can be found on ebay which have been taken from the DVD release
but its not as bad as you think.  Absolutely pop-art brilliance, from
the sitar-laden eastern indian ragas, electric guitar fuzzed up solos,
wah-wah organ freak-outs, Morricone put on every sixties colour he
could find on this soundtrack to massive effect ... so if you want to
soundtrack your next drive in the country in his and her jaguars look
no further than this camped up soundtrack.
