He played me the music. And that was something that really energised me.. he’s been working for five years on the music in a tiny studio in London --- we spent hours in the studio and the music was fucking incredible. We went through five songs and it took hours. The first one was a My Bloody Valentine Loveless gone psychedelic glam and dubby ... a fucking journey into the head of Trashmonk. The second one was Bob Dylan highway 61 revisited that turned into this fucking mad Comets on Fire/Sonic Youth white noise, one song he was working on was Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks lyrically melded to New Order—once the T Rex guitar riffs are on it—it will be fucking incredible, the next was a sister song to the Korgi’s ‘Everybody’s gotta learn sometimes’—as done by Beck --- beautiful pop song --- classic pop—there was a song that he wrote about Elliott Smith that was beautiful and the session ended with this song New York—he had two versions, the first version he played very simply....referencing the Dream Academy’s Life in a Northern Town (I said that he should put the chant in from taht song) it was a redemption song --- put chills down my spine --- the second version was way too overcooked through the background noises where very cool. Classic songs. He told me he has a whole echoes by floyd styles pink floyd album ready to go ....
