Tobias Froberg obviously used his Swede when it came to creating his debut album. He first completed two tours with José Gonzalez – and it shows, although Froberg’s sound dances further into twinkly,
tambourine-filled realms than his at times slightly morose compadré. There’s definitely more of a tapping toe-bias here. With a vintage, ‘summer of love’ feel, chuck out last year’s scratched and jumping ‘chillout’ compilations (such aggravation surely being the definition of irony) and start skipping to this instead. Or just lazing about in the nearest patch of green. If you needed any other encouragement, this is one of the few records of 2006 which manages to reference retro without the jagged description ‘electro’ being slotted in there somewhere – now there’s a turnip for the books.
