Poptones Wishes You a Merry Christmas...!

And we wish to thank everyone that has played our records, wrote about our records, took our emails and our calls, visited the website, bought our records, downloaded our stuff.  We love you all.

And whilst we are on holiday, we just want to drop some news about what is happening in 2007 and what to look forward to at Poptones Recording Corporation towers.

Cherrystones

The Cherrystones selections will continue.  We have in our possesion the follow up to Cherrystones Word, which is being hotly contested as to what we should entitle it.  Trans Europe Excess?  Cherrystones World?  Around the World in a Day with Cherrystones?  Not only that but he is hard at work pretending more Morricone drone for NYC label ‘Whatever We Want’, preparing the follow up to the underground street mixes and doing some remixes for Vincent Black Shadow if all goes right.

Vincent Black Shadow

We are all looking forward to the release of Vincent Black Shadow—rockers who have the approval of both Julian Cope via Head Heritage and Cherrystones.  With these supporters—you know its going to be good and guess what?  It will blow your freaking mind.  To check out the sounds of Vincent Black Shadow please go to http://www.myspace.com/vbskicksoutthejams

Viking Moses

The follow up to Crosses is done and ready to go—a much more band sound than Crosses, it mixes the unique Moses soul along with prime influences of Neutral Milk Hotel.  As our work experience student Rob mentioned:  ‘Its like a lost and forgotten soundtrack to a Wes Anderson film’.  Yes, we all pretty much love Viking Moses.  He’s playing a Christmas show with Scout Niblett on the 22nd of December at the Luminaire in London before flying back home.  Expect his return to the UK at the end of February for more Viking fun and frolics.

The Singleman Affair

We all pretty much flipped to find out that Wilco were all secret fans of mad super reclusive scientist The Singleman Affair and their side-project Autumn Defence has chosen Dan as their main support throughout their America and Canada tour throughout the spring of 2006.  And guess what?  The Singleman Affair is coming to England in the middle of April.  He’s recording his follow up to Let’s Kill The Summer and the demos have shown that he is improving on the minor cult status of Let’s Kill The Summer—expect more guest stars (our boy has been playing with Lichens and TV on the Radio dude in Dreamweapon), string quartets and more for release in Autumn 2007.

Monsterism Island

We’ve got the 2-cd second installment of the soundtrack to that mysterious world that is Monsterism Island, found by Pete Fowler ... and its pure bliss.  Look out for that in 2007.

The Laughing Windows

We’ve been playing the demos and we love them.  You will love them. They have a very limited edition of their single coming out on Battered Ornaments with their EP and LP coming out on Poptones in 2007.  Expect more psychotropic-ness madness from these very psych-ed out rockers—The king is gone but not forgetten/Long live ... SYD BARRETT.  And one Cherrystones remix that we believe is one of the heaviest things that we have ever heard.

And of course, Alan McGee rocking the television airwaves with Death Disco Television!

And look-out when V2 get it together to release the utterly classic Californian rock opus of the new Icarus Line, we will be getting together for a super lush vinyl of these cosmic punk rock superstars.  Note!  Poptones are doing vinyl only.  Dim Mak are releasing it in the States and V2 are doing it in Europe.

And that kraut rock kid All Traps Set (the drummer from Voice of the Seven Woods) will be evoking the spirit of Jaki (genius groover from Can) on some limited 7s.  That and more craziness from Poptones.  And the return of the genius that is Trashmonk to the pop scene.  PHEW!  And you thought 2006 rocked!

Have fun and see you in 2007.
