Cherrystones - Crawl Back To Mine- Mr Cherrystones is back to rock the psychedelic block party from London to NYC with his follow-up to Entertaining the Unobvious. And man it is hard. Imagine if you will ... falling backwards through the best moments of 1001 obscuro pscyhedelic battalion records. Prepare to engage and be destroyed by Cherrystones! Check out the previous mix on here www.myspace.com/djcherrystones
Voices of the Seven Woods - UK’s perfect psych-folk band. The new single is ace. Buy it here or come down with the Poptones.co.uk crew to his show at In the Pines

McDonald and Gilles- King Crimson fans ahoy! Be don’t be afraid. This isn’t prog-rock in excelsoir. Instead, its full of jammy goodness of proto-hip-hop beats and some of the phattest descending basslines around. Prepare to get transcendental. Also, as Andy Votel informs me, were the background players for infamous folkster Christine Harwood.
Stu Phillips - Before Stu was out scoring Battlestar Galatica and Knight Rider ...and last year, El Records put out a fantastic compilation of his 60s movie scores. Unfortunately they didn’t include the fantastic Beyond the Valley of the Dolls theme but however, it does include the raga-soaked ‘Follow Me’ and the entire score for the sixties bike flick ‘’Nam’s Angels’.
Uri Geller - S/T - Yes, I couldn’t believe it but it is true. In the early 70s, when not bending spoons and appearing in Daredevil comic books (with the super power of yes, you know it, bending spoons), Uri was released an album of weird quality. Like the William Shatner album but instead of infused with a maniac screaming and yelling, you get the valium-like quality of Uri’s hypnotic voice.
The Wipers - Youth of America - Fuck me where are all the bands influenced by the Wipers. You could say that it is punk rock but it would be rock-wrong. Instead, the Wipers sit somewhere between iconic rock’n’roll and punk rock. No filler, all anthems. Greg Sage should be the national hero of hardcore America. In a perfect world. Urgent and perfect. Nirvana stole everything from this band.
Madonna - Hung Up- Gayest song ever. Somehow soundtracks everyday when I have to deal with the sullen and surly barista who always screws up my coffee. I now have a Pavlov Dog-type reaction to this song and connect it too surly baristas. Loyalty cards, my arse.
Pissed Jeans - Shallow - Possibly the best rock’n’roll band name ever. Err… watch this space?
The Byrds - Notorious Byrd Brothers—Angelic voices, perfect songs even without David Crosby who left the band during the recording ... and contains one of the funniest in-band fight since the Troggs Tapes and Oasis’ Wibling Rivalry. Pisses all over the Beatles Sgt Peppers at a great height.
Sitting Target - Stanley Myers - The Finders Keepers crew finds and releases another perfect gem from the island of lost records.
Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA (Acoustic) ... make the early anthem from the eighties into a dark plea to America. Its fucking ace.
Wand Records 7" - My god, get the block party started in 2006 and do yourself a favour and pick up some of the most soulful, string-laden, shots from heaven released on this earth to make all the world, a careless, fun place to be. Poptones.co.uk recommends anything on Wand.
Marissa Nadler - Sings death ballads like the last Brian DePalma sister of Hope Sandoval.
